India is a home for innumerable festivals, owing to the diverse culture of its people. Each festival has its own importance with a scientific and or religious background. The festivals are celebrated among all communities without disparity. Popular festivals in India include Diwali, Holi, Dussehra, Ramadan/Eid-Ul-Fitr, Christmas, Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Pooja and may more. Typically every state in India celebrates 20 to 30 grand festivals that are celebrated at different times of the year.

The diversity in soil, culture, climatic conditions, culture, ethnic groups and occupations of Indians has given rise to a varied cuisines. Use of local spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits are predominantly used in the preparations. In fact Indian foods are greatly influenced by religion, variation in local culture, geographical location, season and economics as well. In more recent times, foreign cuisines have also made inroads into our homes. Across the length and breadth of India, one could enjoy delicacies and specialities of that region. Food joints, small and big, khau-galli, Hotels and Restaurants are commonly seen in almost all parts of cities, and people relish and find a reason for enjoying and eating out on multiple occasions.
